Organizational role

It is important that the e-coach pays attention to the organizational elements, which can consist of 2 interventions:

1. Make clear, practical arrangements and mention the rules

Good agreements make good friends

  • Clarify your role as a coach
  • Introduce yourself
  • What can the students expect from you/What do you expect from them
  • Define the timing: time investment of the course, deadlines for assignments.
  • Clarify the form of coaching: partly face-to-face? Partly online?
  • When are you available for support? Given the impact of social media, the expectations are often very high. Keep it realistic and achievable.
  • In what way are you available and accessible for support: mail, forum (see the list of e-coaching tools).
  • Make administrative agreements.
  • When and how are they working together on group assignments.
  • Discuss the evaluation methods and criteria.
  • Provide information about the objectives of your course.

2. Provide computer-related information

  • Clarify the features of the digital environment: how to log in, use,…;
  • The procedure of referral in case of technical problems.
