No learning without feedback

Receiving feedback is one the most efficient ways for a student to learn:  when he performs a task without getting a response, the chance is substantial that he will barely learn anything from it. He will wonder whether he has performed the task successfully or not.

Feedback is at least as important in an online learning context: because there is  less or (no) face-to-face contact between you and your student, there are less ‘evident’ moments to give and receive feedback – hence it is crucial to pay attention to this.
