Added value of collaborative learning

Collaborative learning supports your students’ learning process . The choice for this teaching methodTeaching methods indicate how you want to work and specify activities for the teacher and the student. The choice of a teaching method is related to the predetermined objectives and the context. can be based on  the following student-centered reasons:
Collaborative learning

  • allows the students to train their social and communicate skills which will improve the social cohesion and the involvement.
  • gives the students the responsibility for the training. This can improve your students’ motivation for learning.
  • creates a positive learning environment because your students are actively involved in their learning process and get prompt feedback from their peers.
  • encourages students to treat the learning content critically and self-consciously. This is an important attitude in the context of lifelong learning.

Collaborative learning also has  a number of benefits for you, as a teacher:

  • it allows you to tailor the instruction to the diversity within your group as it creates space for the active participation of your students.
  • it offers  opportunities to determine the level of your students based on their contribution to  the group work. This information offers perspectives to take remedial actions.
