The development of TPACK:  Case analysis

The development of digital teaching materials starts with the following questions:

  • What do you want to achieve with your students. In other words what are the objectives?

  • How will you apply it. Which methods are appropriate?

  • Which ICT tool offers potential in this specific field? What type of tool can help in this field?

Thus, an analysis is a first step. You can carry this out through the TPACK model. This way you can see how the TPACK model can be meaningful for your own situation.

This part is intended to assist you in establishing links between ICT tools and didactics. This part will also guide you in making a choice for using a specific type of tool. The module ‘design’ will give a specific form to this and it namely discusses the diverse options per each type of tool.

The focus in this second part is primarily on how ICT tools can add value to your predetermined objectives and work methods. Thus, the link with the specific discipline is therefore not offered here. But the focus is rather on determining the kind of objectives and work method you postulate that should be closely related to the field in which you want to initiate your students.

Within a practical field eg. Construction will focus on objectives targeting skills whereas a theoretical discipline eg. Mathematics will have knowledge targeted objectives.
