The attached roadmap (?)Open the PDF document in Acrobat Reader to fill it in. will support you in designing online collaborative learning. The roadmap provides (detailed) information  on the type of collaborative learning and the kind of tool that is  appropriate for your problem.

This exercise makes you familiar with the roadmap on the basis of the case below. Put yourself in the place of the teacher and determine how you would handle this case. You can use the roadmap for this.

Audio and Video 1 is a course that introduces first-year students to the basic principles of developing audio- and video material. In contrary to the expectations of the students, the course is often – very theoretical; students acquire knowledge without developing audio-and video material themselves. This results in a low involvement of the students regarding the learning objectives and a low success rate. Students indicate that the content offered does not really fit their expectations.

The teacher wants to do something about this, he wants to challenge the students to relate the acquired knowledge to a real audio-and video production. He hopes that this will bridge the gap between theory and practice for the students. Analyzing the existing audio- and video production is a rather complex task that comprises of different sub domains which were described / elaborated on in the lessons during the semester. Moreover, it seems necessary that the students can complement and enhance each other when analyzing the audio-and video production”.

What would you advise the teacher in question about the way collaborative learning can be organized ?

Use the roadmap as a guideline.

Note: for the third step, ‘preparation’, you have insufficient information based on the above description, try to think about this anyway with this case in mind.
